Original announcement: PERKOA PROJECT UPDATE - Commissioning and Budgeting for 2013
Blackthorn Resources provided an update for the Perkoa project in Burkina Faso, West Africa, reporting that the commissioning of the processing plant is progressing, with the first test batch of concentrate having been produced. Further progress is being made at the process plant with positive examples including: completion of electrical instrumentation work; and crusher operating consistently at 80 tonnes per hour. However, there have also been some early commissioning problems that need to be solved including premature failure of some pumps and the mill trommel (cylindrical sieve). As a result of delays at the project, the first marketable quantity of concentrates is now expected later in Q1 CY2013, with first shipment of concentrates expected during Q2 CY2013. An official opening ceremony of the Perkoa project will be held on site on 19 January 2013.
