Australia
Australian shares are set to open higher, while US markets were closed for the Labor Day holiday.
ASX futures were up 0.05% or 4 points as of 8:00am on Tuesday, suggesting a higher open.
U.S. markets were closed for the Labor Day holiday.
In commodity markets, Brent crude oil was up 0.8% to US$77.52 a barrel, while gold was flat at US$2,499.92.
The Australian dollar was at 67.75 US cents, up from its previous close of 67.62.
Asia
Chinese shares closed lower. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.1% to 2,811.04, and the Shenzhen Composite Index slipped 1.9% to 1,514.70.
Hong Kong shares ended lower. The benchmark Hang Seng Index lost 1.7% to 17,691.97.
Japanese shares closed higher. The Nikkei Stock Average added 0.1% to 38,700.87.
India shares ended higher. The BSE SENSEX rose 0.2% to 82,559.84.
Europe
Stocks in the U.K. finished lower. The FTSE 100 Index lost 0.2% to 8,363.84.
In Europe, shares closed higher. Germany's DAX added 0.1% to 18,930.85, and France's CAC 40 rose 0.2% to 7,646.42.
North America
U.S. markets were closed for the Labor Day holiday.
