Business description
Founded in 1941 in Tokyo as an optical glass production plant, Hoya is one of the largest eyeglass lens manufacturers in the world. Leveraging its technology know-how in glass manufacturing, Hoya entered the mask blanks business in 1974. Now, although its life care business accounts for more than 60% of its total revenue, the majority of its profit before tax comes from its higher-margin IT business.
