Downer reviews Spotless before guidance
Engineering group Downer EDI will update its guidance after reviewing its recently acquired cleaning and catering firm Spotless.
SYDNEY - [AAP] Engineering group Downer EDI (ASX: DOW) will update its guidance after reviewing its recently acquired cleaning and catering firm Spotless.
Downer expects the review of Spotless' business planning, budgeting and target setting process to conclude by the end of November.
Excluding Spotless, Downer EDI was targeting net profit after tax of around $190 million for the 2018 financial year and said Spotless' guidance was projected to be $85 million to $100 million for the same period.
The infrastructure and mining services company now owns 88 per cent of Spotless since finalising the takeover in August.
Downer's shares plunged more than 20 per cent in March when institutional investors showed limited enthusiasm to its capital raising to help fund the $1.26 billion takeover.
However, Downer on Thursday again said the acquisition diversified its services, ensuring it was well positioned to benefit from the continuing trend towards outsourcing.
Downer EDI shares were down 0.5 cents, or 0.07 per cent, to $7.045 at 1056 AEDT on Thursday.
